Times change, and people take different paths. The Remainders was formed after two members of the long time five-piece, the Marc Holt Quintet, moved to opposite coasts of Canada. This left them a trio in the middle of a pandemic. But limitation breeds creativity, so it was time to embrace change and explore new horizons.
The Remainders is a jazz trio, featuring baritone saxophonist Marc Holt, guitarist Michael Stankowski, and bassist Nevin Buehler. These three friends first performed together in 2011 as members of the University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble and have since taken the stage countless times with many different groups across the prairies, including annual performances at the Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Festival.
Though the future may well bring more change, those that choose to play on will always have a place in The Remainders.
